Been a Long Time

We have been battling the elements and the illnesses in this house since New Year's Day. I am hoping that we are now winning the battle, but just when I say that, someone else will get sick! M. had bronchitis and a double ear infection on New Years Day and was given an antibiotic to cure it. She was good for about a week and then the cough came back, so another trip to the MD was in order. The ears were clean, but the cough had moved into her lungs. This meant breathing treatments and another antibiotic. The very next day her breathing became more labored and more rapid and we were back at the doctor AGAIN!! She was then given an oral steroid to help. The combo of the antibiotics, treatments and the steroid seem to have worked. She no longer has a fever; her breathing is back to normal; and she is once again sleeping through the night (there were about 5 nights there where she was getting up every couple of hours because her cough was so bad.)
Just when we feel like we get her under wraps, K. starts saying her face hurts. Took her to the MD yesterday (not only was she complaining of her face hurting, but she had some alien stuff coming out of her nose, too). She is now on an antibiotic for a double ear infection and a sinus infection. P. is just waiting his turn to go to the MD and get medicine. At least everything has been able to be treated by antibiotics and we aren't just riding out a virus!
We were watching the inauguration this afternoon after P. came home from school and he wanted to know why it was such a big deal to get a new president. He also wanted to know why it was a big deal that Barrack Obama was elected. I have been trying to explain it, but this is a kid who truly doesn't recognize skin color differences. He never mentions skin color when describing people, so I have been trying to explain racial differences without destroying his innocence. Not an easy task. K. said "He won! He won!" throughout the ceremony because when she sees people cheer that is what she thinks is happening. I told her he did win...she was right!

Hopefully we will get them all healthy and keep them healthy for awhile!

Some Recent Photos

M. is introduced to her first chocolate eclair. Notice the tongue licking the lips!
We got all geared up for the big game and we even saw Uncle Johnny on tv a few times!
How we got all of them to sit reasonably still and look somewhat towards the camera I will never know! We spent the weekend after Christmas with Kevin's family. We had a lot of fun with his mom and dad, sisters and their families. It is always fun to watch the kids play together. P. came down with the stomach flu the last day we were there, but hey, it's not Christmas until someone comes down with a communicable disease! We ate more and drank more and a good time was had by all. I think this was the first Christmas that I actually put on a few pounds. I have never had that happen before. Needless to say, I am starting my exercise regime on Monday. I have to get ready for the pool in May and these next few months will fly by! (If you see me with chocolate in my hand, feel free to swat it away!)

Lynch Christmas

Setting out cookies and chocolate eclairs for Santa (we appreciate his taste for the finer things).
The long awaited Ariel "dresser". We play beauty salon everyday!
And the boy received Lego Batman for the Wii. Does he look excited or what?!

We spent an very relaxing Christmas morning at our house. The kids actually slept in until about 7:30am (this is sleeping in for the Lynch kids). We opened presents and then had a big breakfast. The day was spent in pjs. The boys played the Wii most of the day while K. played babies and beauty parlor. Mom spent time in the kitchen "playing" with her new kitchen stuff. Santa was very good to us all. We enjoyed the day and the time together just relaxing and having fun.

Correction

I want to publish a correction to an earlier post. I mentioned that we celebrated Christmas with my mom and dad and my brother. I left out some very important people and here they are:

Kristen (my wonderful sister), Britt and her family (my other wonderful sister); Dickie and family; and Uncle Randy and family.

My sincerest apologies to those I left out. (I really mean this, not just being a smart ass). And a big thank you to Kristen for pointing this out!!! (ha, ha)
